The Authority of Scripture

The Bible is the word of God and has full authority to teach and correct. The Bible cannot be be added to. It cannot be taught with parts omitted. It is a whole and complete work of the truth made available to us by God’s sovereignty and power.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. ESV

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.” HCSB

For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return there without saturating the earth and making it germinate and sprout, and providing seed and to sow and food to eat, so my word that comes from my mouth will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do.” CSB

“So be careful to obey all the commands I give you. You must not add anything to them or subtract from them.” NLT

The Gospel

Through Jesus Christ alone, a person is saved by grace through faith. All of mankind is guilty of sin. All sin is punishable by death in hell. Jesus came as God in the flesh to die as that payment for our sin so we may live. As Jesus rose from the dead then we who have faith will also live. Now the only thing owed to be saved from death is faith in Jesus Christ. We can never save ourselves from death so God made a way for us. The way is not of works, but of faith. Believe in Jesus and live.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ESV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. ESV

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” NLT

Therefore I will give him the many as a portion, and he will receive the mighty as spoil, because he willingly submitted to death, and was counted among the rebels; yet he bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels. CSB

One God, Three Persons

There is only one real God. In Him are three persons, making up the Trinity. He is Father God, the Holy Spirit, and the Son Jesus. All of equal majesty and power. All of them Holy and good.

I am the Lord, and there is no other; there is no God but me. I will strengthen you, though you do not know me, so that all may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is no one but me. I am the Lord, and there is no other. I form light and create darkness, I make success and create disaster; I am the Lord , who does all these things. CSB

For this is what the Lord says — the Creator of the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, the one who established it (he did not create it to be a wasteland, but formed it to be inhabited) — he says, “I am the Lord, and there is no other. ” CSB

“You are my witnesses” — this is the Lord ’s declaration — “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. No god was formed before me, and there will be none after me. I — I am the Lord . Besides me, there is no Savior. CSB

Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? ESV

For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. NLT

God's Character

God’s character, who he is, has not changed, does not change, and will never change. He is constant and is eternal, unbound by the time or the space which he created. God is sovereign, just, good, holy, and all powerful. All that God speaks and teaches us is the truth. God is compassionate and merciful and always working to lead people, his children, back to him. God is a good father.

The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. NLT

Yet Jerusalem says, “The Lord has deserted us; the Lord has forgotten us.” “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! NLT

“Because I, the Lord, have not changed, you descendants of Jacob have not been destroyed.” CSB

So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. NLT

The entire Bible is a testament to who God is and also testifies about who we are. The human heart is corrupt and always has been. Only God can change the heart. So to learn more about God read the Bible.

Saved By Grace

Grace is God’s great love for humanity, his children. With his great love he made a way of salvation for us that we must choose for ourselves. Love is not forced. Salvation is not forced. It is freely available to anyone who hears and believes. That is love. It’s a gift to be received. Salvation is not just to be saved from hell. It’s better. It’s to be given a home, a family. It means to be called ‘my son’, ‘my daughter.’ It means doing what you were made for. To love God and be loved by Him.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. NLT

When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners. NLT

And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith. NLT

We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind. NLT

The Christian Faith

A Christian is someone who has an active personal relationship with God Himself. It’s not just attending a church on Sunday mornings. It’s how you live your life. After putting your faith in Christ Jesus, you learn what it means to follow him and live your life for God.

God is after our hearts. We were created by our Heavenly Father to have a relationship with Him. We are meant to talk to Him, walk with Him. He is ours and we are His. He knows everything about us. He knows the good and the horrible and yet, He still loves us as His people. And when we get lost Jesus goes out and looks for us to bring us home.

The Church is not just a building of mere wood and drywall with a nice blacktop parking lot. We the believers are the Church, the body of Christ. We are the living temple in which God lives.

The Church serves a living God and so we all, as the Kingdom, live in Him.

“This is what the Lord says: The wise person should not boast in his wisdom; the strong should not boast in his strength; the wealthy should not boast in his wealth. But the one who boasts should boast in this: that he understands and knows me — that I am the Lord, showing faithful love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for I delight in these things. This is the Lord ’s declaration. CSB

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  NIV

… For the LORD your God is the one who will go with you; he will not leave you or abandon you.” CSB

For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. NLT

Soli Deo Gloria.
